The watch shelf
Some of this is a hand, and a paragraph is a poor container for a hand.
This desk is good at the part of makeup that is a decision — what fits, what layers over what, why the film failed at hour six. It is structurally bad at the part that is a motion. Press rather than drag. Stop filling at the tail. Let it visibly settle. Those are instructions whose whole content is a movement, so here they are, demonstrated by people who do it for a living and by chemists who can say why it works.
77 references across 26 topics and 15 sources. Every one is filed against a decision this desk already makes, so it appears beside that decision as well as here. Nothing is embedded and nothing plays on this page — the desk links out, and the link is the only thing that leaves.
THE MASTERCLASS: SKIN PREP
Wayne Goss
What prep is physically doing to the surface, and how long to wait between steps so layers do not lift.
Why this source · Treats the wait as part of the technique, which is what the order layer prices in.
Makeup Artist Skin Prep Secrets 🤫
Robert Welsh
Contrasts prep choices on one face and shows each changing how the same foundation sits.
Why this source · One variable changed at a time, which is the desk's own test discipline.
UNCUT WITH KJH BASICS: Skin Prep & Concealer
KATIE JANE HUGHES
Unedited prep and concealer, so pressure, timing and quantity are visible instead of cut around.
Why this source · Real-time footage; nothing is hidden in an edit.
How a reference earns a place
It answers a decision
Every row is filed against the desk's own identifiers — a ranked troubleshooting cause, an ordering stage, a colour question. A reference that matches only a keyword does not go on the shelf, because it would appear beside questions it never answers.
It shows a motion
Preference is for demonstration over description, and for the fault shown before the correction. A video that would have worked as an article is not adding anything the desk could not have written itself.
It is not evidence
A demonstration shows a technique working on a face, under lights, on a day. That is worth a great deal and it is not a trial. Nothing here upgrades into a claim the desk would otherwise refuse to make, and an archival product list inside a good technique video stays archival.

Where to take this
Chosen from your own record: 3 things open at the beginner stage, and what usually follows this page.
Diagnose what you can see
Name the failure and the desk ranks the causes — each one carrying the demonstration for it.
Score the architecture
Decide what the film should be before deciding how to lay it down.
Log one worn day
Log a day
0 of 1 so far. What held past hour six is the one fact no formula list can predict for you.
When this is not a makeup question
Nothing is written into another desk without you choosing it. These links carry only the context named on them.
- Skincare Intelligence
Carry your skin, climate, sensitivity and named concerns across so the routine can be evaluated with the same stated inputs the makeup desk used.
- Vanity or Vice · Routines & Ingredients
The order you apply things in, what each film is intended to do, and where the evidence is uncertain — argued long-form rather than scored. This is the reading behind the sequence this desk just gave you.
